The Streets of Milan

For so long I haven't enjoyed being in some City that much. Although, my first impression was opposite from what I expected. We arrived late on Saturday night, and at least what I expected was a buzz of people, crazy nightlife, and fancy streets. I saw none of it in a first few hours. We were wandering around empty streets of the City Center desperately trying to find a place to eat, and by 3 am, we were very fortunate to find a Pizzeria on our way to the apartment. But pretty soon, Milan has revealed it's true colors.

Amazing architecture, outstanding districts, endless beautiful streets, various options for shopping and kind Italians made me want to stay there.

Milan is really the metropolis and the capital of fashion - and although it is very international, we didn't encounter a lot of tourists. Which is probably going to change in the next couple of weeks due to the upcoming Milan Fashion Week.

While in Milan, you will not miss visiting Duomo Piazza which is located in the city center. But if you are a seeker for a hidden treasure while traveling, you shouldn't miss some of the charming places you will be able to see below.

Monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi, the "Father of Italy"

Tower of Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) with marble statue of Santa Giovanni Nepocedemo

 Parco Sempione
Porta Sempione ("Sempione Gate"), a city gate of Milan
 Charming Brera Design District

 Duomo Di Milano

Milan Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano) is the cathedral church dedicated to St Mary of the Nativity (Santa Maria Nascente), it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan. This Gothic cathedral is the largest church in Italy (the larger St. Peter's Basilica is in the State of Vatican City) and the fifth largest in the world. It took nearly six centuries to complete. I was amazed by how many details are incorporated in every piece of this large piece of art. This gothic-style cathedral has more statues on it than any other building in the world. Milan Duomo is decorated by 3,400 fascinating statues, 135 gargoyles, and 700 figures. This is beyond imagination...and if you ever decide to visit this gorgeous city, climb the stairs to the rooftop of the Duomo to fully appreciate the architecture of the most refined silhouette I've ever seen. From the terrazza you’ll see breathtaking views across Milan and peaks of the Alps. On the cathedral’s highest spire you can see the famous Madonnina, the gold-colored statue of Mary.

I think I'll always remember the moments spent in the Duomo Piazza imagining summer nights I'd enjoy spending there. The smell of the city is colored by different notes of the perfumes, and architectural creations will leave you nothing less than breathless.
